Kp 6 is a step up from Kp 5 and below Kp 7.
What Kp 6 means tonight
A Kp 6 event is a G2 geomagnetic storm - significant enough to produce aurora across much of northern and central Europe, the northern United States, and most of Canada. For UK observers, Kp 6 brings aurora within reach of southern England, Wales, and Ireland on clear nights. The Kp 6 storm of May 2026 produced aurora visible from London, Paris, and New York.
